I’m a Research Engineer at the Bioinformatics Lab at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. Previously, I was a Fulbright scholar and earned my MSc in Computer Science from Indiana University, following a BSc in Computer Science from Al Akhawayn University.

My research sits at the intersection of human cognition and AI, driven by a central question: how can we decode brain function to better understand human cognition and behavior, while designing AI systems that are aware of and responsive to human needs, capabilities, and intentions?

I pursue this research through two interconnected paths. First, I develop tools to interface with the brain and behavior, using machine learning to decode and reconstruct information from sensorimotor brain activity and human actions. Second, I study how humans learn, reason, and make decisions in order to design human-aware AI systems that support human learning, collaboration, and adaptation rather than replace them. Within this framework, my work focuses on personalized human–computer interfaces, where I investigate and leverage data from sensors and wearables to model embodied knowledge and design adaptive, human-centered systems that enhance human capabilities, and human-aware AI systems, where I develop adaptive agents that support learning, decision-making, and collaboration while operating within human feedback loops and aligning with human goals and behavior.

At the core of this work lies a question that continues to fascinate me: how do thoughts become actions? The mechanisms by which the brain perceives, reasons, and acts remain deeply mysterious. Understanding this process can inform the design of technologies that not only advance AI but also extend human capabilities, enabling more natural and effective forms of human–machine interaction.

I am always looking for opportunities to collaborate and contribute. Feel free to explore my interests through selected projects and posts.
